The basic bits of information in relation to examinations are given below. All other details regarding examination will be explained to our students in the course of each seminar. In case that you have questions regarding a certain examination, you can contact our educational center or search for the answers on www.stottpilates.com under the link “Education – Exam FAQ”

  1. It is necessary to pass the written and the oral examination in order to gain a STOTT PILATES®

  2. The examinations can be taken in the Body & Mind Educational Center or any other STOTT’s educational center in the world (LTC or Hosting Centers, if an authorized educator is available there). The examinations are to be announced in advance or the data are to be determined for them in advance. Each student can apply to be a “body” at some examination, gaining in such a way a direct experience in the examining process before they themselves take the examination.
  3. The student must pass the examination within 6 months after the attended seminar. In case of a later application, it is necessary for the student to attend certain number of private consultations with the IT (the authorized educator for STOTT PILATES®). For Mat of Reformer examination the student needs at least 1 hour, for Mat + Reformer 1-2 hours, and for the full Pilates 2-3 hours of private consultations, which are to be paid additionally.
  4. It is possible to take examinations separately in Mat or Reformer, or to take a combined examination in Mat + Reformer or in Full Mat + Reformer + CCB (Cadillac, Chair, Barrels).
  5. It is possible for all mentioned above to take examinations in only Level 1 (the basic and the intermediate level), in only Level 2 (the advanced level), or in Level 1 and Level 2 together.
  6. The period of time and the structure of the practical (oral) part of the examinations are strictly determined. Only the oral examination in Mat or Reformer lasts 1 hour, the oral examination in Mat + Reformer examination lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes while the oral examination in Full lasts 2 hours.
  7. Each student must bring to the examination their filled-in lists of observational and practical hours. The student cannot start the examination without these lists. The observational hours regard watching STOTT PILATES® DVDs after which the number of watched hours is written into the list, and it is possible to watch them many times and write them down into the list each time. The observational hours consider the presence of the authorized STOTT PILATES® educator, as well, who must sign personally the observational list. Practical hours regard certain number of guided hours in the capacity of a trainer, regardless of the student having been paid or not for the role of a trainer. The clients trained by the student in the capacity of a trainer are to leave their signature on the list of the practical hours. Both lists must be filled in accordance with the number of observations and practice, and these numbers are defined for each particular seminar.
  8. The written part of the examination covers the content of STOTT PILATES® method entirely: the purpose of exercises, modifications and all reasons for modifications, the biomechanical analysis of exercises, understanding the 5 principles, the exact schedule of exercises, different postural types and programs intended for those types, the recognition of muscles, etc. The practical/oral part of the examination covers: postural analysis, defining the focus of the program and programming in accordance with posture, the practical explanation of the 5 basic principles (theory and exercises), the exercise program. Each segment of the practical part is to be evaluated separately. In relation to the exercise program, the following is to be evaluated: the choice in exercises, the adequate modifications, the skills of the instructor and their behavior. Students do the postural analysis on “the body” of the other student and guide the training on “the body”, which in essence covers the practical part of the examination. “The body” can be only and exclusively a student who has themselves attended the same examination.
  9. The results of the examination are sent as electronic mail, 4-6 weeks after the examination, directly from Toronto, Canada. In case that a student must take an examination or its segment, they must take the examination or its part within 6 months after the previous examination. The repeated examination or its part is to be paid again (the prices are a bit lower).
  10. The prices of the examinations are not included in the price of the seminar.
  11. Private consultations are held by the Instructor Trainer (IT) and the duration of a term consultations is 60 minutes. The price is 80 eur.
  12. Altogether with indispensable STOTT PILATES® manuals for each segment of the method, the watching of STOTT PILATES® DVDs is highly recommended. These DVDs cover the entirety of the method on the platforms, on the platforms with requisites as well as on the machines (big devices). Each main DVD is accompanied with a DVD with modifications and desirable infrastructural verbalization. With different literature in the field of anatomy and biomechanics, STOTT PILATES® recommends learning from the following books: Andrew Biel “Trial Guide to the Body”, Bryan Edwards Publishing “Muscle Flash Cards”. These books can be ordered through com site. The list of recommended literature gets considerably bigger only for the ISP seminar.
  13. Upon obtaining the certificate, each student is obligated to update their license on the yearly basis by renewing their CEC scores. The renewal of the CEC scores can be done by taking part in some other STOTT PILATES® seminar or workshops (it is written next to each seminar and workshop how many scores it brings), through private educational sessions with an IT (CEC scores are given in relation to the choice of topics and the number of the hours). The update of a license requires at least 0.6 CEC scores annually (i.e. on yearly basis). The essential purpose of this rule is to make instructors keep on educating themselves continuously and remain in such a way in touch with the development of the science and their profession. This is the only true path to maintaining the quality of the instructing work and to keeping up the gold standard of the work represented by STOTT PILATES®.

    CERTIFICATE
